AVON ?
A Hartford man who police said sexually assaulted a local 14-year-old he met on Facebook was arrested Friday.
Israel Gomez, 24, was arrested on a warrant charging him with using a computer to entice a minor, second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor, Lt. Kelly Walsh said.
He was in custody Friday morning on $250,000 bail and was scheduled to be arraigned in Superior Court in Hartford later in the day.
According to police, Gomez met the girl online in September and, over the course of months, had conversations with her on Facebook and over the telephone. Police described the "chats" as "sexually explicit" and "unlawful."
On Dec. 20, he drove from Hartford to Avon, where he picked her up, drove her to nearby parking lot and sexually assaulted her, police said.
