Indiana's historic baseball season came to an end tonight in a 1-0 loss to Oregon State in an elimination game in the College World Series.Indiana - who never had more than 33 wins over Division I teams in a season - finished 49-16. IU was 1-2 in the College World Series, beating Louisville and losing to Mississippi State and Oregon State.
The Hoosiers, who had not been shut out all season, could not figure out Oregon State's Matt Boyd.
The Hoosiers suffered double-figure strikeouts in all three College World Series games, striking out 11 times tonight.
Indiana stayed close thanks to a stellar performance from pitcher Aaron Slegers. The 6-foot-10 pitcher held an Oregon State team averaging 5.9 runs to just one, scattering seven hits while striking out five.
Slegers allowed just two hits to Oregon State's first five batters in the lineup.
Oregon State's Boyd had a no-hitter going into the fifth inning.
Indiana got two runners on with one out in the fifth inning but Casey Smith and Chad Clark both popped out.
The Hoosiers managed to get a hit in both the eighth and ninth inning but weren't able to score.
